Yeah this has always been something I take great issue with.
Overall, I feel like weight as an insult is something that just shouldn't be used, since it's such a sensitive issue for a lot of people.
I get that a lot. "GOSH YOU'RE SO TINY." Maybe they even mean it as a compliment, but it doesn't come across that way at all. It just makes me feel more self-conscious. It's not really as though we choose of our body types, it's a pretty arbitrary thing to hold against a person (unless it's an indication of character--in that someone has no self-respect so they eat away their feelings, or someone doesn't value themselves and wants to disappear so they never eat).
The thing is, people use skinny as an insult all the time. "Oh she's so skinny she looks anorexic". There exist different body types. To criticize someone on the basis of their body type is rude and insensitive and cruel.
I don't really understand the reversal of the issue, either, where some women make the claim that "real women have curves". It's precisely the equivalent of saying "fat girls aren't real women". What it comes right down to is personal preferences, and I don't think anything should really be regarded as inferior, and especially not used as an insult.

Normally I would have thought what you said was immature but, within the context of the conversation, I feel you were justified with what you said.
She's the one who brought of your weight. If she had said anything other than that I would have had an issue with it but, for lack of better words, "she started it".
By the way, don't take it to heart what she said. Many chicks are self-conscious about a guy who is 'smaller' than them because it makes them feel "big", so they might feel like they have to yap their mouth about it; it's probably more of a nervous thing than anything else but this girl will now certainly think twice before embarrassing someone else (whether she did it with that intention or not) in front of others again...so lesson learned.
