Just shaving is fine. But before you do that, you might want to trim it down with clippers/scissors (this is also a good preparation for waxing, but that hurts. a lot. and will give you red bumps sometimes for a few days, moreso than shaving).

Leave it on for a long time. And even then, you'll end up having to shave some.
Shaving with the hair, as in the direction it grows in, doesn't give as close a shave but it doesn't cause ingrown hairs and whatnot. Considering your hair is probably long and you're only doing it the one time, and not going out to impress, shave with the grain.

8419133 here. Nair will probably get a good portion of the hair off. Have a razor nearby to take care of whatever the Nair doesn't get. You'll be smooth like a baby in no time.

Ok, I had the same problem with you. I was really hairy before I started hormones. I'll give you all the advise I have. Number one, get one of those venus razors with the gel stuffs on both sides of the blade. They work best to get a smooth body and less red bumps. Use moisturizing shave gel very generously. Go slowly and softly. It will take awhile the first time. Do it in the tub after you have soaked for a bit.
