Survey on gay rights

Rowboats love a good survey thread, and this one will deliver--
The following is a list of questions on LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) rights, the first five of which have been recent issues in US politics (the fifth is federal law, the others are not). Next to each say "yes," in favor of the legislation, or "no," not in favor. A brief explanation under each is given for foreignf**s.
1) Repealing DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act)

yes = illegal to fire LGBT employees solely on the basis of their orientation
3) Pass civil union legislation
yes = civil unions with equivalent benefits to marriage legal in all states
4) Pass gay marriage
yes = gay marriage legal in all states
5) Amending hate crime legislation to include LGBT persons as a protected category
yes = harsher punishment for crimes of hatred
Supplemental questions:
6) Should LGBT relationships be criminalized?
7) Are your answers different for LGB persons, as opposed to the transgender?

Why do so many here not believe in transgenderism? Why is the concept of a male body and a female brain so hard to grasp? How can I be a fetishist if my penis doesn't work because of hormones? And how can I be gay if I'm not attracted to men? I'm just curious.

Yes, but hormones pretty much change everything but the penis. And I think most people think that gender and sex are different things. It's pretty much accepted by the medical community that sex is what is between the legs and gender is what is between your ears.
If you say we can't change our sex, I would have to agree to a certain extent. An inverted penis is still an inverted penis. But it more like using hormones and dressing how we want to reflect how we feel inside. If you were a guy, how would you feel if society thought you should start wearing a dress for the rest of your life? And jobs will not hire you if you dress like a guy?

"Daddy, why is that woman so ugly?"
"She or he is a transgender person, son. She or he loves taking c**k up the ass and wearing women's clothes despite having a penis. She or he enjoys the soft silk of lingerie against her or his testicles. She or he also needs to take medication to stay whatever gender she or he chooses to be. She or he probably has unnatural plastic boobs which are against both christian and darwinistic world views. She or he was probably abused by his or her parents."

I'm bored so I'll explain my answer to five. I think "hate crimes" should be judged as regular crimes, no additional penalty because it was white on black or straight on gay crime. It just comes out unfair in the end.

You just want attention and an excuse to be fa**ots. Are there male dogs who have bitten off their penises because they want to be female? Are there male birds who have ripped their feathers off to look female? Mental illness is not normal, it severely impairs your ability to reproduce which means evolution wants your genes permanently destroyed.

I'm bored so I'll explain my answer to five. I think "hate crimes" should be judged as regular crimes, no additional penalty because it was white on black or straight on gay crime. It just comes out unfair in the end.

Hate crimes don't just mean killing someone, a hate crime could be spraypainting someone's house with "Die Jewish scum" - the crime is in the thoughts behind the actions being acted out. If someone had just spraypainted "Joe was here" on someone's house, it's highly unlikely they would get a heavy sentence, if anyone even bothered to press charges in the first place.
Racially/religiously-charged actions are touchy for almost everyone. It might partially be a placebo, but it reflects our values as a society as well. We aren't all utilitarian ("he died, it doesn't matter how he was killed.") like you; it's important to be sensitive to the situation.

Can't speak for anyone but myself but here's my answer - it's not that I don't believe that it exists but I think in many cases it's people who want to escape their problems. Especially males who want to become females because females are expected to be dainty and passive and wait for someone to pick them up and fix everything for them.

Ok, I've never met a single trans girl who transitioned because of that reason. If they exist, and I'm sure they do, they transitioned for the wrong reasons. It's really hard to explain GID to someone who has never experienced it. It's about as hard as explaining depression or love. But I'll do my best. I always felt, from about age three, that I wasn't suppose to be a guy. It didn't feel 'right' at all. When I thought about being a girl, that was the only thing that felt 'right'. I was happy as a guy, I had no problem being one. But it all felt like a huge act. I felt like my life was a play and I was playing a character that was totally opposite of who I really was. I was in shape, but I couldn't stand to even look at myself naked. I felt really really uncomfortable and embarrassed when taking my shirt off to swim because it didn't look right to me. I felt deformed. Now because of my curves and breasts and looking just like a girl, except between my legs, I wear a two piece and feel no embarrassment at all. When I transitioned, every single thing I felt was wrong with me fell from me and I felt right for the first time.
I was never gay, or a very sexual person at all. I don't understand why some people think it's a fetish. I gave up my male sex drive completely to feel 'right'.

They do it metaphorically; there's supposed to be symbolism in staying silent in school: LGBT's are pressured into being silent about their conditions, so students decide to be silent for a day to sort of "echo" this climate of insensitivity for others who are not the norm.
Also, you just admitted you go to highschool. Nice. You'll probably tell me you're 18, but with the amount of ignorance you just displayed, it's more likely you're more like 15.

Hate crimes send a wrong message to people who are not protected by them -- if someone I knew and loved was murdered, but the defendant got a "lighter sentence" because, say, my father is white rather than black?
I'd feel a great sense of injustice, and almost as though society valued his life less because of his race.

You must understand that there is something wrong with you. You aren't supposed to live. You have the capability to experience intense discomfort and shame so you would kill yourself. Now you pop pills to live a fake life.
Also, that sh*t is just copypasta from every tranny forum in existence. It's just like joining a cult: Everything feels so right and good, I was never happy until I met my beloved leader Mr. Manson. Ah, he made me feel good about myself which I had never experienced before as he told me.

People who kill for any reason whatsoever, except accidentally, are usually too f**ked up to ever live a normal life. Either they kill again, spend the rest of their lives in jail or get fried which is the right thing to do.

Ok, I'll bite. I'm not even attracted to men, never have been. How am I a f** again?
It is classified as a mental illness, like you said. But the cure can be two things, cure the mind, or cure the body. It's been tried for years to cure the mind, it can't be done. So all that's left is to cure the body, which can be done with a simple pill for a lot of trans people. What is so wrong with changing our gender marker? Not like any trans girl who has taken hormones for any length of time has the physical ability to rape women in public restrooms. lol

While utilitarians would take my viewpoint, it's not a strictly utilitarian view. I simply stand for impartiality of the crime. If I killed a bunch of jews or a bunch of random people, I should get equally long sentences for both crimes.
And by long I mean f**king long. What I mean to say is that all crimes should be punished harshly.

1) Repealing DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act)
yes = domestic partners receive spousal benefits
2) Pass ENDA (Employment Non-Discrimination Act)
yes = illegal to fire LGBT employees solely on the basis of their orientation
3) Pass civil union legislation
yes = civil unions with equivalent benefits to marriage legal in all states
4) Pass gay marriage
yes = gay marriage legal in all states
5) Amending hate crime legislation to include LGBT persons as a protected category
yes = harsher punishment for crimes of hatred
Supplemental questions:
6) Should LGBT relationships be criminalized?
7) Are your answers different for LGB persons, as opposed to the transgender?
PLEASE ALSO INCLUDE YOUR:
Age,
Gender,
Ethnicity,
Orientation,
Religious belief,
Whether you're located in a red or blue state, per the last presidential election, or what country you're from.

Ah, but everything I said is true. It's the only way I can explain it off the top of my head. And if all those trans people say it this way, there must be a reason, right? lol
Way I see it is that I was born with a birth defect. But you could look at it two ways. I was born with the wrong brain setup for my body, or I was born with a penis and the testosterone damage that comes with it.
BTW, I'm also intersexed. I have male-xx syndrome. Meaning I have female DNA. I would like to know what your take on all this is. It's a rather entertaining seeing how people view us, especially negatively.

I think you are misunderstanding the definition of a hate crime - if I walked up to a bunch of Jewish people and killed them for no apparent reason, it would not be charged as a hate crime. Again, it's the thoughts behind it that make the crime a hate crime; I think you're implying that if a Jew is killed it's a hate crime automatically.

Thing is, the way the US justice system works, the DA wants to pile on as many accusations as possible. I don't really believe if a Jewish guy got killed, the DA wouldn't try to throw out a "hate crime" charge just to see it stick / get in the papers more.

So why is it worse that they were killed because they were jews? A lot of murderers hate their victims, is it worse to have killed them because of hatred or because they just liked killing.
The thoughts behind the action shouldn't matter, the only thing that should matter to the law is whether the actions were intentional, or if they were done in self defense

Actually, recent studies have shown that the average trans GIRL's brain is closer to a cis female brain that a male brain. There are physical reasons in the brain that make us how we are.

Actually, it kind of is. Motive plays a big role in the severity of homicide. That's why there's Voluntary Manslaughter and Self-Defense. Be honest with yourself; is a man who gets drunk and kills someone in a bar fight with a glass bottle or something nearly as bad as a guy who runs out in a Klan hood beating someone and shouting FA**OT at them? The mens rea for murder is intention to kill or seriously harm a person. Being drunk isn't a defense, people get drunk voluntarily, so what they do while drunk is intentional (that's not my opinion, that's how the law sees it).
Hate crime laws are just bad laws.

Have you read any of my above posts? This isn't a fetish. If I could take a pill and feel right as a male, I totally would. I don't want to be trans. I've felt like a girl all my life. Actually, it's not some quack I go to. He's an actual gender specialist. And it took me almost a year for him to get to know me enough and run the right tests before he gave me the go ahead to get on hormones. I get tests every three months to see how my blood levels are. It's like this for most trans people, actually. It's a huge screening process. Not just some quack.

So you specifically sought out a "gender specialist" who's known to give out pills so you can live out your little fantasies?
I think I rest my case.

Not so much as known to give out pills, but to help those who need it. If you had a back problem, you would totally seek out a specialist. You would go to a family doctor to get a major surgery, would you?
And he's known to be pretty strict, actually. He turns away tons of people who he feels aren't really trans. But it's not just pills, it's therapy too.

I've talked to *plenty*. I've been on 420chan, and I've seen what f**king train-wrecks those people are.
I've got a cousin who transitioned from a guy to a girl. He's a f**king mess. His kids are messed up. He's got serious problems with reality. His old man was a captain of police in our city, and pulled strings to get him a job. Cousin did everything possible to get a disability pension, intentionally crashing a car, tried to act nuts, etc.
Finally, he transitioned, still couldn't get himself fired. So he used his webspace on the police department to post semi-pornographic photos of him in his police inform with his fake tits and what not hanging out. This FINALLY got him fired, but hilarious, no pension. Just sh*t canned.
Oh, he's totally a "lesbian."
So yeah, I have some experience.

There's a south park episode [so4e01] that's about hate crimes.
It represents my feelings.
>And we think that that is a savage hypocracy, because all crimes are hate crimes. If a man beats another man because that man was sleeping with his wife, is that not a hate crime?
...
>Mayor, it is time to stop splitting people into groups. All hate crimes do is support the idea that blacks are different from whites, that homosexuals need to be treated differently from non-homos, that we aren't the same.
>But instead, we should all be treated the same, with the same laws and the same punishments for the same crimes

lol I actually have to agree with you on certain points. A TON in the trans community are pretty messed up in the head. I only know a few who don't have mental problems. And I will agree that some do transition to be 'little girls' because they have always wanted to be the little girl. I'll also agree they are probably fetishistic it. And I know of /cd/ on 420. I used to go there years ago. Wasn't my group of people.
That said, not all are like this. I never wanted to be trans. If I could take a pill to make me happy as a guy or if I knew something I could have done to make me not trans, I totally would. But I have to settle with transitioning to rest my mind and be comfortable with my body. I have to admit, I'm happier now than I have ever been. I've been on HRT for over two years now without a single regret. It was like night and day.

All my life, I've wanted to be a cat. I am hoping someday, the world will be open enough to allow this, and let me get my surgeries to make me more cat-like, and more comfortable with my body. Ever since I was a child, I felt "different" and "special". I looked to animals and I felt a special... Kinship.
But there are still things about being a human I like. Like living in a house. But all my life, I've been a cat, trapped in a man's body.
I understand you're a woman, trapped in a man's body. Well, except you still want to have sex with women. I mean, I can totally understand, where I am coming from after all.

Accept me.

Totally lame! =) There is no medical studies that point to anyone having an animal brain in a human body. There are plenty that show us to have female brains. I linked one above.
Now, if you want to be a cat, fine, I won't stop you. If you want me to call you felix, fine, I will. But do NOT ask me to scratch your chin and behind your ear! I'm not into bestiality.

5 no - i don't agree with the whole "hate crime" thing. if i assault a black guy i'm doing the same exact thing as if i were to assault a white guy. it's still an assault. just certain aggravating factors are involved which would lead to harsher punishment. shouldn't make it a federal situation.

Ah, but what does DNA have to do with any of it? We share pretty much that much DNA with most of the species on this planet. It doesn't mean it's possible to ever have a chimp brain in a human body. It's never happened before. You wouldn't be able to talk. If you want to be a chimp, I'll put you in a cage and feed you bananas. I might be second guessing myself now because I can see you have the brain of a chimp, you can't grasp as simple concepts as transgender even when I'm typing my thoughts out very clearly.

I view gay marriage rights as a sex rights issue.
That is, it isn't 10% of the population being discriminated against by being unable to marry the gender of their choosing, but 50% (men) being not allowed to marry men based solely on their gender (women are allowed to marry men but men aren't) and the other 50% being not allowed to marry women based on nothing but their gender. If we want sexes to be treated equally, they should have the same marriage prospects as each other. You can't give them a separate marriage pool and claim to be equal. "Separate but equal" is never equal.

So're you a hot tranny? aim plox

I might give it, but just know I'm into women and have a girlfriend of two years.

No. (Religion defined marriage as it is between a MAN and a WOMAN. You can't force a religion to change their ways because baaaw I'm not happy)
5) Amending hate crime legislation to include LGBT persons as a protected category
No. (Every crime is a hate crime. I don't have a problem with LGBT people, but if they want equal rights, a crime shouldn't be treated differently based on their orientation.)

6) Should LGBT relationships be criminalized?
Obviously not.

1. No.
You need a legal contract to share benefits, not just "we live together"
2. yes
Nobody deserves to be fired based on their sexual preference. However, LGBT people shouldn't get all f**king uppity and assume they got fired because of their sexuality if they were doing substandard work.

Consenting adults should be able to enter into any legal contract they wish.
5. No.
Hate crimes are load of sh*t. If a man kills you it makes no difference whether he did it while yelling "fa**ot". He still committed a crime and it shouldn't be treated differently just because he hates you.

Free societies do not criminalize activities that are harmless.

yes = civil unions with equivalent benefits to marriage legal in all states
4) Pass gay marriage
yes = gay marriage legal in all states
5) Amending hate crime legislation to include LGBT persons as a protected category
